Maar wanneer de andere kinderen er gemene grappen over maken en de vleugels kapotscheuren, trekt vlinderkind zich boos en verdrietig terug. Gelukkig is papa er en leert hij vlinderkind weer plezier te beleven aan de kleurrijke vleugels – en vooral om te blijven vliegen.
