Wat is seitan? Sinds honderden jaren wordt in Azië seitan gemaakt van tarwemeel. Door water wordt tarwe gescheiden in zijn componenten zetmeel en gluten (tarwegluten). Seitan Fix bestaat uit die tarwegluten. Afhankelijk van het vochtgehalte bij de bereiding wordt het eindproduct losser of vaster/vezeliger.
Afhankelijke van de bereidingswijze kun je seitan gebruiken als vleesvervanger in roerbakgerechten, stoofschotels, of zelfs gewoon gebakken als een soort biefstukje of shoarma. Je kunt het lekker knapperig bakken, of juist meestoven in een gerecht zodat het heerlijk mals wordt. Je kunt ook worstjes vormen van het seitandeeg, die je vervolgens als broodbeleg of snack kunt eten.
