Deze Nederlandse trostomaten zijn geuriger en zoeter dan de gewone ronde tomaat. Dit maakt ze extra lekker in gerechten waar de echte tomatensmaak goed tot zijn recht moet komen, zoals in een lekker zomerse tomatensalade met basilicum en mozzarella. Voor een optimale smaak zet onze Nederlandse teler Frank de Koning bewust in op een niet-maximale kg-opbrengst. Sinds de jaren 90 is Frank bezig met het verbeteren van zijn vruchtbare kleibodem. Zijn tomaten groeien namelijk in volle grond en niet op substraat. Door op biodynamische wijze te werken streeft Frank naar natuurlijk evenwicht in de kas. Want goede producten telen lukt alleen in een omgeving waarin de bodem en biodiversiteit op orde is. Zo ontwikkelen zich sterke planten die tegen een stootje kunnen en minder vatbaar zijn voor schimmels en ziektes.
