De zoete versterkte Muscaatwijnen kennen we vooral uit Frankrijk, waar onder andere Beames-de-Venise erg lekkere wijnen maakt. In de Dourovallei noemen ze deze versterkte wijn Moscatel do Douro. Ze combineren hun kennis over het ouderen van Portwijnen met het maken van deze wijn. De Moscatel heeft iets minder alcohol (17%) dan de Portwijnen (19-20%), maar na vele jaren ouderen in houten vaten, waarbij enige oxidatie wordt toegestaan, ontstaan wel heel erg lekkere wijnen. De rijke zachte smaak met noten en gedroogd fruit wordt goed in balans gebracht met de frisse zuurgraad. Werkelijk een snoepje dat minutenlang blijft hangen. Goncalo Sousa Lopes en Rui Cunha van Quinta da Faisca verbouwen zelf geen druiven. Ze kopen druiven in de directe omgeving en specialiseren zich om op ambachtelijke wijze daar de mooiste wijnen van te maken. En mooi en heerlijk zijn de wijnen!
Deze wijn is gemaakt van de druif Muscat a Petit Grain.
