Uil is een koene ridder is die het kasteel zonder enige vrees bewaakt. Zijn leven is precies zoals hij het wil.
Totdat een klein vogeltje zijn rust komt verstoren: Vroege Vogel. Het kleine beestje wil namelijk niets liever dan ook een Ridder Uil worden. Iedere ochtend komt Vogel de slaap van Uil verstoren om aan te tonen dat ze heus een ridder kan worden, maar iedere morgen krijgt ze het deksel op de snavel. Uil wil slapen. Op een gegeven moment is hij het zat en geeft hij haar op niet mis te verstane wijze duidelijk dat ze zeker geen Ridder Uil is. Wat de consequenties van zijn actie zijn? Dat is natuurlijk de vraag.
