Uit archeologische opgravingen blijkt dat in de bergachtige streek van Alto Adige al wijn werd gemaakt lang voordat de Romeinen de vallei bezetten. De regio heeft maar liefst 300 dagen zonneschijn per jaar. Een gemiddelde temperatuur van boven de 18 graden met flinke schommelingen tussen dag- en nachttemperaturen tijdens het groeiseizoen. Het resultaat zijn frisse, elegante rode en witte wijnen. Giuseppe, Roberta en Christina Fugatti startten in 2013 het project Von Blumen. Zij bezitten 10 hectare wijngaarden vlakbij Bolzano. Alhoewel de streek ook zeer bekend is vanwege zijn Sauvignon Blanc, ben ik met name gecharmeerd door de Weissburgunder (Pinot Bianco) en de Blauburgunder (Pinot Nero). De Pinot Nero of Blauburgunder zijn de Italiaans / Oostenrijkse benaming van de Pinot Noir. De kleur van de wijn is bijna doorschijnend helder rood. De wijn is uitermate fruitig. Je ruikt en proeft kersen en frambozen, met daardoorheen bloemen en kruiden. Een heerlijke wijn bij de maaltijd of vooraf bij wat mooie bergkaasjes.
Deze wijn is gemaakt van de druif Pinot Noir.
