This Paperblanks notebook is based on a painting by Dutch painter Jan van Huysum (1682-1749). Van Huysum is perhaps the greatest master of the most respected subject in the Dutch artistic canon: the flower. He is most appreciated for his floral still lifes and some italianized landscapes. The story goes that van Huysum led a very reclusive life and that, for fear of plagiarism, he denied everyone, including his brothers, access to his studio. Despite this restraint, van Huysum's technique was widely followed and copied during and after his life. The cover of this notebook is so lifelike that it almost comes to life when the book is on the table.
