What is shibori? It literally means "to tighten by twisting" in Japanese. It is a type of dye that has been practiced for thousands of years (13th century) in the land of the Rising Sun. The concept ? Make a series of twists and folds on textiles, held by ties, which will then be immersed in bluish dye baths. Result: the fabrics are adorned with unique geometric patterns!
And, where does this deep shibori blue come from? Indigo, one of the oldest natural plant-based dyes in the art of dyeing.
