Bij mijn wijn- en architectuurreis naar Portugal hebben we zeer veel Port geproefd en hebben ervaren hoeveel verschil er is in kwaliteit en smaak. Port onderscheidt zich met name naarmate de wijn langer heeft gerijpt. Zelf ben ik meer een liefhebber van de licht geoxideerde Tawny ports dan van de meer fruitige Ruby varianten. De bekendste Tawny port wijnen die je in Nederland kunt krijgen zijn wijnen die 10 jaar gerijpt hebben. Maar vanaf 20 jaar krijgt een Tawny zo´n mooie zachte fluwelen smaak. Goncalo Sousa Lopes en Rui Cunha van Quinta da Faisca verbouwen zelf geen druiven. Ze kopen druiven in de directe omgeving en specialiseren zich om op ambachtelijke wijze daar de mooiste wijnen van te maken. En mooi en heerlijk zijn de wijnen!
Deze wijn is gemaakt van de druiven Tinta Barroca, Tinta Amarela, Tinto Cão, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz enTouriga Nacional.
