Na een bezoek aan de heer en mevrouw Wang keert Kuifje terug naar Shanghai om een fles Radjaïdjah-sap, het beroemde ‘gif dat je gek maakt’, te laten analyseren.
Het is dus met deze gevaarlijke lading – die inmiddels in een pakketje is gewikkeld – dat Kuifje opnieuw de Japanse linies overschrijdt.
Ondanks verschillende onvoorziene gebeurtenissen (een op korte termijn gestarte militaire inspectie, een achtervolging op de fiets en een snel bezoek aan een plaatselijke bioscoop), slaagt de kleine verslaggever erin het te bezorgen bij zijn ontvanger: professor Fan-Se-Yeng.
De harsfiguren van 12 cm, die de hoofdrolspelers uit De avonturen van Kuifje vertegenwoordigen, zijn gemaakt in overeenstemming met de details van de tekeningen van Hergé.
Deze stukken zijn zorgvuldig vervaardigd en met de hand beschilderd.
