Veel chocolademakers vinden de cacao uit Madagascar een van de beste cacaobonen ter wereld. Daarom is het niet gek dat veel ‘fine flavor’ chocolademakers hun repen maken van deze cacao. De cacaobonen die Krak Chocolade gebruikt zijn net even anders dan die van de andere chocolademakers, deze zijn namelijk afkomstig van de Ottange Farm. De Ottange Farm ligt aan de Ramena rivier, gelegen in het noordwesten van Madagaskar in de Sambirano Valley. De Ottange Farm hoort bij de Mava plantages en is de kleinste van de acht plantages. In 2017 won de Ottange Farm de International Cocoa awards. Elk jaar wordt er op de Ottange farm zo’n 6 ton cacaobonen geteeld. Hiervan wordt het grootste gedeelte door de eigenaar, de Ramanandraibe familie, gebruikt om zelf chocolade van te maken. Een klein gedeelte wordt verkocht, Krak Chocolade heeft het geluk om hier hun repen van te mogen maken.
