Description
Op een avond hoort Romeo vreemde geluiden op zijn balkon. Hij sluipt er naartoe en ontdekt een kip! Een kip die zich graag laat aaien en het liefst bij Romeo in bed komt liggen. Bij de kip blijkt ook een nieuw buurmeisje te horen, Tobi.
Tok en Tobi geven Romeo de moed om de laatste wens van zijn vader in vervulling te laten gaan: nog één keer de woestijn zien. Geen gemakkelijke wens, maar Romeo geeft niet op, zelfs niet als zijn vader te ziek blijkt om naar Amerika te vliegen. Dan moet de woestijn maar naar hem toe komen. Met hulp van Tobi en haar kip kan namelijk bijna alles.
Jowi Schmitz schrijft met lichtheid en humor een ontroerend verhaal over vriendschap, verdriet en er voor elkaar zijn. Net als in Beste broers (Zilveren Griffel) speelt familie er een belangrijke rol in.
