Gomasio - 'goma' is het Japanse woord voor 'sesam' en 'sio' is het Japanse woord voor 'zout' - is een mengeling van sesamzaden en ongeraffineerd zeezout, die eerst apart lichtjes geroosterd zijn, en daarna samen fijngemalen. Elk zoutkorreltje wordt op die manier omhuld met gemalen sesamzaadjes. Een gezonde en smakelijke manier om uw voeding op smaak te brengen, met veel minder sodium dan bij zuiver zout. Gomasio heeft een hoog gehalte aan Fosfor, Calcium, Magnesium en IJzer. Om gemakkelijker door het lichaam op de botten vastgezet te worden heeft Calcium Magnesium nodig. Door de combinatie van sesam (zeer rijk aan Calcium) en zout (rijk aan Magnesium) is gomasio een waardevolle specerij.

Gebruik-tips:
Deze specerij heeft een delicate smaak. Het is een soort 'zout' dat uw gerechten niet alleen zout maakt: het voegt er ook de discrete smaak van sesam aan toe. Gomasio wordt ook gewaardeerd bij warme gerechten, graanproducten, soepen en groenten, en als versiering voor slaatjes en rauwkost.
