Erythritol is een natuurlijke zoetstof die van nature voorkomt in sommige paddenstoelen, vruchten en gefermenteerde voeding. Biologische Erythritol is geproduceerd middels natuurlijke fermentatie en heeft ongeveer 70% van de zoetkracht van gewone suiker. Het is een ideale vervanger van riet-, bietsuiker of andere zoetmiddelen. Erythritol geeft een zoete smaak aan smoothies, yoghurt, tussendoortjes, dranken, ijs en andere (na)gerechten. Erythritol wordt opgenomen in de dunne darm en via de urinewegen uitgescheiden, waardoor er geen calorieën worden opgenomen. Erythritol beïnvloedt de bloedsuikerspiegel niet en is daardoor een goed alternatief voor diabetici.
