Het bijgevoegde boek vertelt het hartverwarmende verhaal van hoe deze ondeugende elf elke nacht naar de Noordpool reist om aan de Kerstman te rapporteren over het gedrag van kinderen.
Elke ochtend zal je elf op een nieuwe plek verschijnen, klaar om de dag met vrolijkheid en avonturen te vullen. Het leuke van de Elf pop is dat de kinderen Elf iedere ochtend op een andere plek in het huis vinden. Maar er zijn regels... de kinderen mogen de Elf niet aanraken én de Elf zal nooit praten of bewegen wanneer de kinderen wakker zijn.
Elf on the Shelf kent dus twee regels:
- Kinderen mogen de elf niet aanraken want anders verliest de elf zijn magische krachten. Wordt de elf tóch per ongeluk aangeraakt? Dan adviseren we de kinderen om een brief aan de kerstman te schrijven met excuses. Daarna mogen ze een beetje kaneel naast de elf te strooien voordat ze naar bed gaan, want “Kaneel dient als vitamines voor verkenningselfen én helpt hen terug te keren naar de Noordpool. Zodra ze aankomen, zullen de dokters op de Noordpool ze controleren.”
- De elf praat of beweegt niet wanneer de kinderen wakker zijn. De elf beweegt alleen ’s nachts van zijn reis op en neer naar de Noordpool. Weer thuis bij de kinderen neemt de Elf een nieuwe positie in het huis in. Zo zie je de elf op de gekste plekken!
