Gelukkig vindt hij een schuilplaats bij de excentrieke bandiet Lijp Kot en de mooie Meintje, maar daarvoor moet hij zich wel bij hun boevenbende aansluiten. Terwijl zijn vader hem zo op het hart had gedrukt om zich nooit tot stelen te verlagen.
Hoewel Lijp en Meintje en hun kompanen hem een nieuw thuis bieden, valt het bendeleven Pontus steeds zwaarder. Zal hij zijn naam en eer kunnen herstellen?
