De vaseline in de zalf zorgt voor een hoger vetgehalte en dekt de huid af. Het draagt bij aan de bescherming van de huid, waardoor de huid minder water afstaat en wordt gehydrateerd. DA vaseline paraffine zalf wordt geadviseerd als basishuidbescherming.
