De laatste berggorilla’s leven in het Virunga Nationale Park in Oost Congo. Om de aantasting van hun leefgebied door de mens tegen te gaan is cacao aangeplant aan de rand van het park. De cacao voorziet de bewoners van extra inkomen zodat ze niet het leefgebied van de gorilla’s bedreigen.
De ‘Gorilla bar’ melk bevat 37% cacaobonen, 30% melkpoeder, 23% suiker en 10% cacaoboter.Alle ingredienten zijn van biologische teelt afkomstig. De reep weegt 90 gram en is verpakt in vetvrij papier bedrukt met bio-inkt.Deze chocolade is een versproduct. De reep is ruim een half jaar houdbaar maar wij adviseren de reep binnen 3 maanden op te eten. Simpelweg omdat de smaak dan beter is.
