Lijnzaad kan in vele gerechten verwerkt worden. De ongebroken variant is van betere kwaliteit dan de gebroken, dit komt doordat het oxidatie proces geen invloed heeft gehad op het product. Gebroken lijnzaad wordt beter opgenomen door het lichaam dan ongebroken lijnzaad. Lijnzaad pas kort voor gebruik vermalen/breken.
Lijnzaad is vezelrijk.
Lijnzaad kan toegevoegd worden aan muesli en kan verwerkt worden in brood, koekjes of muffins, maar ook in een pizzabodem. Je kan het over een salade strooien of een zelfs beetje lijnzaad mengen met gekookte rijst (na het koken toevoegen). De mogelijkheden met lijnzaad zijn eindeloos.
