Description
Ada is de dochter van de graaf van Holland, en heeft weinig te vertellen over haar toekomst. Ze heeft te luisteren naar haar ouders en ze moet trouwen met de man die door haar machtsbeluste moeder wordt uitgekozen. Meteen na haar huwelijk wordt ze ontvoerd en in ballingschap naar het buitenland gebracht. Via Texel belandt ze in een kasteel op het Engelse platteland. Feitelijk zit ze daar jarenlang gevangen, maar voor Ada is het alsof ze eindelijk vrij is. De wereld gaat voor haar open.
